Adelaide to Clare Transport
The Clare Valley is located approx 140km north of Adelaide, getting there is half the fun…. here are the options.
Busses
YP Coachlines operate 3 services a week from Adelaide to Clare
Stateliner travels from Adelaide up the main highway and bypasses Clare, however it is possible to get off the bus in Snowtown, which is 43km west of Clare. It’s not the most convenient option however if you have someone to pick you up it will be easier for them to get you from Snowtown than Adelaide.
Train
The train to Clare unfortunately stopped running in 1983 after it was damaged in the Ash Wednesday bushfires, it’s not all bad news, as the rail corridor has now been turned into the award winning Riesling Trail enjoyed by thousands of people every year
However, it is still possible to catch a train from Adelaide to Gawler, which is closer than Adelaide to Clare, however it’s still an hours drive from Gawler to Clare, but if you have someone picking you up, it may be easier for them to pick you up in Gawler rather than Adelaide.
The cost of travelling on the train from Adelaide to Gawler depends on the type of fare you purchase and there are discounts for seniors and students, however it is generally less than $10 one way

Private Vehicle Transfer
Clare Valley Wine Tours offers a pick up and drop off service between Adelaide and Clare in a private premium vehicle for $450 one way, the vehicle can seat up to 6 persons (passengers 5 & 6 will sit in smaller rear seats).
Hire Car
There are no hire car companies located in Clare, however all the normal brands operate from Adelaide and Adelaide airport
The driving distance from the Adelaide City and Adelaide Airport to Clare is 143km, which can easily be done in 2 hours
