Join us on Wednesday the 24th of May 2023 as we do a fully guided walk on Stage 6 of the Clare Valley Wine & Wilderness Trail, meet some local legends, eat some amazing food and sample award winning Clare Valley Wines.

The experience will show off each of the 3 main valleys which make up the Clare Valley Region (The Polish Hill River, Clare & Skilly Valleys), which we’ll explore on foot and by vehicle.

We start the day with 14km hike on stage 6 of the Clare Valley Wine & Wilderness Trail, we’ll then reward ourselves with a delicious lunch with wine at Pauletts and then finish of the day sampling and comparing wine from the Polish Hill & Skilly Valleys.

The cost of the event is $205 per person, click here <button> to book.

About The Hike

The hike takes place on the Clare Valley Wine & Wilderness Trail (stage 6) and is 14km in length, a moderate level of fitness is required.

Most of the walk is through farmland on unmaintained rough walking trails, there are also at least a couple of big hills to climb.

Walkers need to be prepared for all weather and have appropriate footware etc.

Meet Some Local Legends

(This is a draft plan as of 7/3/23, note we are in the process of confirming the participation of all locals)

During the day we’ll catch up with some key people involved in the Clare Valley Wine Community. Significantly each of the legends is a keen supporter of the Clare Valley Wine & Wilderness Trail and each has the trail passing through their properties.

  • Julie Barry operates the Good Catholic Girl winery & cellar door in Sevenhill, Julie is the daughter of the Clare Valley’s most famous winemaker, Jim Barry.
  • (Sevenhill Cellars ?)
  • Rob & Lyn Jaeschke operate the Hill River Clare Estate Wine Label and together with their sons farm a significant part of the Polish Hill River Valley.
  • Matt & Ali Paulett operate the Paulett Winery & Bush Devine Cafe Restaurant and are doing amazing and creative things with their food.
  • Angus Mitchell is a third generation Mitchell who operates the Mitchell Winery in the Skilly Valley with his siblings, wife & children.
